Monster Parent Lands Jobs.com
April 19, 2002
TMP Worldwide has spent tens of millions of dollars on advertising and promos for its flagship property Monster.
But just in case a neophyte online job searcher overlooked the Super Bowl ads, giant blimp, or ubiquitous Olympic signage, TMP has plunked down $800,000 for insurance in the form of the jobs.com Web address.
The address, and corresponding trademark, were bought by New York-based TMP at a bankruptcy auction yesterday.
"Jobs.com is a desirable URL and it speaks directly to the mission of TMP and Monster," said Jeff Taylor, founder and chairman of Maynard, Mass.-based Monster. "We feel this is another step to providing job seekers access to our industry-leading career management tools and services."
Jobs.com won't replace the Monster moniker, rather it will funnel traffic to it and other TMP properties such as FlipDog.com and newly introduced TriState
JobMatch.
